In several cultures it's customer for the children to take care of the parents once they can no longer take care of themselves. In our western society this has gotten a bit lost.
Unfortunately sometimes there is no other solution as it is not always easy to take care of an elder person at home when you work all day.
Nowadays you have homes specially adapted for elderly people. They have a small flat and are still being take care of by a medical staff. This allows them to maintain a certain independency and keep their dignity.
I remember a case where the parent wanted to go to such a place, but one of the children wanted the parent went to another place. Argument used was at that rest house several people where already living there whom the elder knew. But is it the choice of the child or the parent?
